I made this Wall Clock from some 1970's parquet wood flooring I salvaged from my house.
When we moved in (over 10 years ago) we ripped up the dodgy green shag pile carpets and were pleasantly surprised when we found the original 1970's hardwood parquet flooring underneath.
A lot of sanding and varnish later and it was back to its former glory, 10 years on we still have it in our dining room.
I took up a section in another part of the house and have had it in a box in my workshop ever since (I have a wood hoarding problem...)
I knew I would use it one day, and recently that day came.
It took a lot of cleaning to remove the original adhesive from the back, I also sanded the tops and sides of each piece to remove all the varnish. Then I assembled it in a herring bone pattern. Once the glue had set I cut it to shape and gave it a couple of coats of varnish to finish.
Love how it turned out, the wood looks great restored to its former glory.
